Hi all I’m so old now I remember when my old stuff was still new… I still have furniture from student days more than 30 years ago. Like the lady above says, it’s still got concert stickers, and other cosmetic modifications made during particular "episodes", they all tell a story. I’ve never bought a new car, I’m still rolling iron (bought second-hand) from the 70s and 80s. It was good then, it’s getting classic now, it fits me, spares are cheap. My two favourite motorbikes (both with my wife’s portrait painted in classic aviation art style) are late 80s tech. My beloved was always relaxed about the kids scrawling on the walls as they grew up, – only our walls , and she taught me to be as well. She was right. They’re living memories of days now gone. We buy new furniture when something breaks… but mostly it will be used=new-to-us furniture, just seems sensible. In my observation, a man who always buys new stuff, won’t / can’t keep the same wife.

A well-groomed lawn is the literal and figurative front line in adding curb appeal. It’s also one of the more affordable upgrades; Houzz found that roughly 60% of American homeowners spent money on lawn and garden supplies. Homeowners spent a median of $1,000 on lawn projects — and you can get away with having great grass for far less if you’re willing to put in some elbow grease and tackle mowing, edging and fertilizing yourself.
You won’t find obscure ingredients or rare beers here, but you will get warm service in a prime location, adjacent to the Comedy Studio in Somerville’s Union Square. When Austin barbecue lovers leave all the great local options behind and head toward Hutto, they’re usually en route to Louie Mueller Barbecue, in Taylor. This is my plea to stop eight miles earlier at the Texaco gas station on FM 1660, just off U.S. 79, for a spot as good as you’ll find anywhere. Pustka smokes a mean brisket, ribs, and half chicken, and he also makes his own sausage from an old Polish family recipe that uses mustard seeds. Spring often conjures images of pastels, but red can be just as powerful and less expected than its softer color counterparts. “Balance deeper hues (which can read more autumnal if overused) with bright tones and be intentional about what elements of the table incorporate this bold color,” says Cassy Anderson, Owner of Cassy Rose Events. Delicate blooms and custom watercolor details highlighted this reception’s bold colors—a whimsical white table runner helped to make them pop.
A smiling Eddy Young, the property’s general manager and welcoming committee, escorts me to the dining hall, Three Peaks Lodge. This primary tent’s large canvas exterior is an unassuming mask of the elegance inside, where I first catch a glimpse of the Collective charm: fresh-picked wildflowers adorn dining tables, blankets are draped over chairs, and heavy rugs cover the hardwood floor. The tent walls are tied open on all sides, allowing the natural environment to become an extension of the indoor living space.
