Enter a nondescript office building and take the elevator to the top floor to find Restaurant MCR, a low-key fine dining experience. The juxtaposition comes from the casual atmosphere—warm wood decor, bare tables, and an open kitchen—and chef Aiden Byrne’s highbrow tasting menu. Opt for the full nine-course tasting menu for a real treat (there’s also a vegetarian version).

These warm and inviting finishes are applied by hand with a "layering technique" that leaves slight distressing in certain places. Basically, you end up with a classic chair design that looks like an antique but is somehow still in perfect condition.
Lastly, I had a little bit of trouble with the plastic sleeve that sits within the lower leg piece and through which the upper leg moves up and down. It came unattached from the lower leg so when I move to a standing position, the plastic sleeve moves up as well. This has not affected the desk’s performance in the three months I’ve had it, but it made me a little uneasy about the long-term durability.
